As you may know, I work at our local hospice with people who are been bereaved, and with people who are anticipating bereavement. Because of this, as well as because of my own personal experiences of death of friends and family, I was interested to hear what B J Miller has to say in this TED talk.

He understands the medical experience from both sides and now works in palliative care. He is clearly passionate about what he does and his approach to focusing more on the patient, and their well-being, as well as to how we deal with and mark the moment of their death, touched me deeply.

It’s not just what he says, but also how he says it – with such empathy and humanity.
